tui na

Tui Na uses acupuncture points and channels to invigorate Qi and Blood, while dissipating pathogenic factors from the body.

Tui na (pronounced "twee naa") is a physical therapy that has been practised for over 2,000 years, owing to the discovery of ancient Chinese texts from the Zhou dynasty (700-481BC), describing it as ‘An Wu’ or massage.

how it works

Tui Na is a form of therapeutic massage, which has its basis in Qigong energy medicine that enables the stimulation of acupuncture points, promotes the revitalisation and regulation of Qi and Blood, as well as relaxing and releasing the sinew channels (ligaments, tendons and muscles).

This action facilitates movement of the body’s joints and structures while promoting calmness to the sympathetic nervous system.

Tui na is practised in the same way as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, with the same rationale, philosophy and diagnosis discipline.

the treatment

Tui na is a non-invasive treatment for certain conditions, such as scoliosis, and can be practiced as a vigorous or gentle form of therapy, depending on the individual’s body requirement at the time.

As it is a gentle form of adjunct treatment, it is very suitable for children and the elderly.

In my clinic, I provide Tui na as an addition to your acupuncture treatment if it is appropriate for your presenting condition.
